When: August 12th
Where: Elms Estate, Surrey, England
It was late late at night. Either that or early early in the morning. It was fairly dark outside the window of the bedroom Katarzyna had been given to stay in at the Elms estate. The moon lit some of the grounds, and the stars were brighter than she'd even seen in Russia. England was a pretty enough country, if only everyone didn't speak English.
She had been given a change of clothes, a shower, and even had her broken leg healed. It was nice to stand on her own two feet again, to feel the soft carpet under her toes. She leaned up against the window frame with her eyes closed, taking a moment to digest what all had happened tonight.
Kata had seen nothing but white for days. The white walls, the white sheets, the white coats of the doctors who floated in and out of the room she was being held prisoner in. She wasn't strapped to the bed or shackled like a regular prisoner might have been. No, she was kept in place by a broken leg that was in a cast, and numerous wires and iv lines keeping her mostly sedated and making sure she was still alive. She was a firm believer of the idea that this was hell.
She hadn't been able to sleep, tossing and turning, sort of, as she tried to get comfortable. Suddenly, then walls seemed to bend in on themselves, and then the door practically melted away. Kata stared with wide, frightened eyes as Tokyo (whom Evie had called, she learned from her thoughts) burst into the room, pulling the multitude of wiring from Kata's arms. A piercing glance caused the window on the far end of the room to freeze and shatter, leaving only a gaping hole in its place. "Hold on," the raven haired woman said as she lifted Kata from the bed. The only thing she could do was to cling to Kyo, and squeeze her eyes closed tight as they took off out the window. This was the second time Kata had been in flight with someone, and she hated it just as much.
Kata didn't know how long they were in the air, but, quicker than she expected, they crashed to the ground, Kyo crumbling and Kata spilling into a heap just in front of her. Once she collected herself, she tried to thank Kyo, who only barked at her to get away from her, but not to run away. After a few minutes, they were both on their feet, Kata limping under the weight of the cast, and headed up to the Elms house, where they were greeted by Evie herself. Kata was lead into the kitchen, where he cast was taken off by Kyo and her leg was healed by Evie. Before she left, Kyo turned to her with a threat that made Kata's blood run cold. "You'll listen to them, or I'll bring you back. Understand?" Kata could only nod numbly. Kyo's thoughts in her head were harsh, and she wanted nothing more than to be away from her.
Kyo gave Evie a look that could kill as she headed out, making Evie promise not to ask for her help anymore. Other words were exchanged that Kata didn't understand. Not that she really cared to. She was afraid of Kyo, something Evie picked up on. Evie fixed Kata something to eat, then sat down across from her while she picked at the food, still trying to understand what was happening to her life. They'd talked briefly, and then Evie had shown Kata to her room.
Evie didn't explain much. Only that she, along with a number of other people, were chosen for their abilities. There was something about the whole situation that totally unsettled Kata's sense of control. She felt lost and more confused than ever. Couple that with her mind moving a million miles a minute, and there she was. Stuck in some strange place with strange people, not knowing what was going to happen.
